Tricks
Fun, engaging, and rewarding for both of you and your dog!
Tricks training is a fantastic way to build connection, confidence, and creativity with your dog. Whether you’re teaching simple behaviours or more complex routines, the focus is on having fun while learning together.
From spins and bows to more advanced sequences, tricks encourage dogs to think, problem-solve, and stay engaged. It’s a great option for dogs of all ages and energy levels, and can be especially useful for building confidence in dogs that may be shy or easily distracted.
For handlers, tricks training offers a relaxed and enjoyable way to develop training skills and better understand how your dog learns. It’s also a great stepping stone into other activities, such as Dances with Dogs.
Is your dog ready for tricks?
To take part in Tricks classes, dogs should:
- Pass a simple temperament assessment
- Be healthy
- Be non-aggressive towards people and other dogs
- Be able to work off lead
- Be motivated by food rewards
- Be comfortable working in a small, busy environment
Tricks training is all about positive reinforcement, celebrating progress, and enjoying the process as much as the end result.
