CLASS ONE EXERCISES
- HEEL on a loose lead (figure 8 and weaving)
- LEAD Held in both hands
- SIT (from heel position, hands on)
- STAND (from heel position, hands on)
- DROP (from heel position, hands on)
- TURNS (left & right turns, about turns and U-turns)
- SIT STAY (end of dogs nose)
- REVERSE
- RETRIEVE toy
- SIT FOR EXAM (hands on)
- STAND FOR EXAM (hands on)
- CHANGE OF POSITION
STANDARD REQUIRED FOR PASS TO CLASS TWO
- Hander must show ability to work on a loose lead to advance
- Handler must demonstrate a basic knowledge of class one excercises
- Sitting with assistance – one voice command only
- Stand with assistance – one voice command only
- Right about turn and right turns under control, dog reasonably close, encouraging dog around
- Reverse – responding to the ‘COME’ command and under control. Dog must come back willingly and sit in front of handler step back to heel position
- Sit stay – approx 5 seconds
- Sit for exam
Food/training aid may be used during class pass up.
A ribbon is given to each dog handler team that passes up to next class.
