NEW MEMBERS PROCEDURE

Welcome to the Ballarat Dog Obedience Club.

WEEK 1

SUNDAY
9.15am – 9.45am. ENROLMENT

Complete Membership Application Form
Pay Fees
Present vaccination certificate (The Membership Officer only needs to view the vaccination certificate to verify current vaccination. You retain the certificate)

NO VACCINATION CERTIFICATE - NO TRAINING

Note: you should be offered a copy of
our club’s constitution, “Statement of Purposes, Rules and Bylaws” This is also available on our web site - view
the “New Members Handbook – part 1”, and
our monthly club newsletter “Puppy Tales”


10.00am – 10.15am. ORIENTATION.
A video and discussion giving a brief overview of our club and some basic rules.

10.15 – 11.00 am. BASIC OBEDIENCE.
A class for first day beginners showing handlers some basic obedience commands.

WEEK 2
Please collect your new name tag from the membership officer.
You should also receive a copy of the “New Members Handbook – part 2”

ADULTS

New members with dogs over 6 months go to their class. This is normally class 1. You will need to assemble at the sign with your class number.
New members with puppies between 3 and 6 months go into “Puppy Class”.

CHILDREN (9 – 18 YEARS) - Children must be 9 years or more to handle a dog in class.

Children with dogs over 6 months go into a “Junior Handlers Class”.
Note: Children over 12 have the option of entering Junior Handlers Class or mainstream classes.

Children in the “Junior Handlers Class” MUST be supervised by their parent or a responsible adult who must be present for the whole class.

Children with puppies under six months may go into the “Junior Handlers Class” or the mainstream “Puppy Class”

Note :
A training fee of $2 per session applies from this week on.
Obedience classes are 10 am to 11am each Sunday, except for long weekends and other designated days when the club hosts trials and competitions.
