SASHA

After doing a lot of research I decided I wanted a black female toy poodle to have for companionship and to do trial and obedience Work. I looked at lots of litters but they were either too expensive for my budget or the conditions where the pups were living were not at all nice.

I gave up for a while, then my daughter in law who had a 16 year old male white poodle decided to try and mate him to her uncles 2 - year old chocolate miniature poodle. Nothing was said to me in case it didn't work but it did!. There were five in the litter and Sasha was the blackest. At six weeks of age she arrived at my home inside my sons coat with just a little nose peeping out, and so started our love affair.

We can be our dogs worst problem and so it happened with me, she was such a little thing I carried her everywhere, which I now regret because as a lot of you know, Sasha does not like dogs coming into her space until she gets to know them. We have gotten the C.D. with good marks but found its not for her, she wont retrieve the dumbbell at a trial, so we tried agility, which she loves but I am not able to run, so we started doing NADAC where we have lots of fun.

Through VCA and NADAC Sasha has two walls of ribbons and trophies, she loves running with the dogs at tracking, but that is only for fun, she loves her friends to come over to play but makes sure they go home with their mums. We have gone back to tricks again, we had to give it away for a while because Sasha thought she could heel on two legs instead of four, and when going for her CD she decided to do a bow in the stand stay and stayed that way until she was released. The judge of 25- years Lyn Decka said she had never seen it happen before.

So much for wanting a black poodle. After Sasha's first clip grey started to appear first on her back and front legs then gradually all over, so her colouring is different to other poodles. She loves people especially the grand children she has a special squeal / bark when she sees or hears them coming. She is my mobile doorbell and much loved fur child.

Over the years she has acquired many soft toys from the grandkids, but she doesn't keep them for to long, she loves to de-stuff them before hiding them in strange spots. The lounge room often looks like it has been snowing. She doesn't touch my stuffed toy dogs or teddies or anything else of mine so I can’t complain. She is my much loved and very spoilt fur child.
