Hi everyone,
Mum asked me to put paw to paper and
tell everyone a bit about myself. Boy what does one
say? At the ‘young’ old age of 11 there
is so much to tell all my fellow canine friends and
their handlers.
I started my schooling (well that is
what mum call’s it – I like to think I started
training her!) at Geelong. Boy what fun, lots of friends
to run around and see each week. Mum would be the one
yelling at me to come back but what was I to do? I had
to get the latest doggy gossip. Now I am at Ballarat
and there is a whole lot of new friends and gossip to
get – what fun!
I have tried my hand at agility (that
was fun, especially when they cooked the BBQ so close
to the ring); down the A-frame out the ring straight
to the BBQ perfect sit, loving look at the chef. WHAT
no sausage, oh well next time they will not be able
to refuse, back to mum. Obedience: sit, drop, stay –
make up your mind mum, your hand signals make no sense,
your body language says sit but you say drop. The poor
instructors, how do they cope? Mum informed me the other
day that we were going to have another go at obedience.
I know what to do she just has to learn what needs to
be done. Sorry to my instructors, hopefully you can
whip her into shape, I have tried but to no avail. Tracking
– Oh what FUN.
Mum decided to give this ago and we
haven’t looked back. At last I am in control of
where we go. We recently got our TSD title, “not
bad for an old boy”. You should feel the tension
coming down the lead when mum is told there is your
starting article and good luck. All she sees is a blank
paddock, bush, or street in front of her, while all
I can smell is the way we are to go. So off I go, pulling
her this way and that way, oh there is an article, no
time to stop lets keep going I say. I like to check
the area to make sure that all is good, so yes I take
the long route, but why not I am fit, mum trusts me
and I am in charge in this sport. Then I find the person
who got lost and boy they are so glad to see me that
they have a yummy treat for me. Mum comes along, all
smiling and often crying – what a softy she is.

Oh well what does the future hold for
me, more tracking, TSD Champion here we come. Now it
sounds like there is some obedience and then there is
the good stuff in life that all dogs LOVE! Cuddles,
kisses, food, more food and then some more cuddles,
what is a dog to do. They say it is a dog’s life
and boy I agree. To all my instructors my apologies
for my mother between the two of us I am sure we can
whip her into shape. To my 4 legged humans enjoy yourself
and have fun, after all it is a DOG’S LIFE!
