Sir
Archie
Breed: Golden Retriever
Aged: 2 years
Owner: Allison Doodt, Jamieson, Rory and Ava Burrows.
Sir Archie was purchased with Christmas money given
to my husband by his Grand Mother (Christmas 2008) My
husband and I carefully selected the breed of dog that
would best suit our young family and it was the Golden
Retriever that topped the list. .
We were very fortunate to get Archie as he had already
been sold to another person, but as Archie cried all
night and was “Hard work” the girl returned
him to the breeder the very next day!!!!!!
As
the newest member to our family was to be “my
husband’s” dog, I stood back and watch him
select and name little Archie. I remember Archie was
so sad the day we brought him home, he obviously missed
his canine family terribly. (pictured left, 8 weeks)
Although I didn’t feed, walk, discipline or play
with Archie very much within those first few days, he
picked me as his “person”. Secretly I was
thrilled. That’s when I decided to join BDOC –
as to me there is nothing worst than a large dog that
takes you for the walk.!!
We progressed through the classes quite quickly and
are now enjoying John’s tuition in Class 4. You
may know Archie, he is the dog that ALWAYS takes off
during the recall to visit his best doggie friend Fergus
who is in Class 3 also a Golden Retriever (sorry Karen,
sorry Glenn). Although I enjoy watching Agility and
Flyball, and the skills required to Track with your
dog amaze me, Obedience is my chosen discipline. Hopefully
Archie and I will trial one day in the near future.
I enjoyed my early days at the Club so much I even nominated
to join the committee. – this year will be my
2nd term on the committee of management. As part of
my COM role you will find me most Sunday’s sitting
behind the New Member’s Registration table.
Archie is the first Golden Retriever we have owned,
he has brought so much joy to our lives I cannot imagine
my life without a Golden Retriever in it. Although I
do dream sometimes of a “Hair Free” house.!!!!
I guess that’s why they call it FURniture?
