T.CH. Lisa Vomoz C.D.
Breed: Deutcsh Drahthaar
Born: 3/3/2000
After many years of having Fox Terriers& Greyhound
X’s for hunting, I decided that I required a more
universal hunting dog. After a lot of research, I found
that the Deutsch Drahthaar would fit the bill. On discovering
there were only 2 breeders in Australia at the time,
I located a pup in Toowoomba QLD. After driving 15 hrs,
I finally saw my little bundle of joy. I new I had made
the right decision. Sleeping on my lap all the way home
we developed a great bond.
I found Lisa very easy to house train and even as a
pup she would point on birds in the garden. Living on
a farm Lisa would also chase the sheep much to my dad’s
dismay, which I quickly trained her out of.
Although I had roughly trained many hunting dogs, I
wanted more control of my new pup.
In mid 2000 I decided to join B.D.O.C. to do obedience
training. Back then there was only obedience and agility.
After going up through the classes, and a few laps of
the oval after her, I thought it would be fun to trial
Lisa in obedience. With a lot of help from 2 experienced
handlers, Lisa gained her Encouragement and Novice Titles.
In 2003 along came “Cruiser” but that’s
another story.
Coming from a hunting background I was very interested
in Tracking. Fortunately with a strong inherent tracking
instinct, Lisa had no trouble gaining her Tracking Champion
Title.
Now for fun Lisa trains in Agility. She trialled in
the last Agility Nationals. And also, she has enjoyed
many weekends away trialling in different disciplines.
At 9 years of age her best years are behind her. Lisa’s
still not happy about Belle (my new wife) taking her
seat in my Ute. Even after all this Lisa is at her happiest
hunting foxes and deer on a cold winter’s day!
