Jaz was one of 13 puppies. A friend at work said that
her female dog had had puppies and that she would have
to get rid of them. She was going to have them euthanized
because she didn’t think anyone would take them.
I wasn’t even thinking of getting another dog
as I had lost a loved pet with cancer the previous year.
When I first saw Jaz she was a little ginger, 3 kilo
bundle. She nuzzled up to me and of course I brought
her home and introduced her to Ollie, my other dog,
who was bigger than her for a while. Jaz encouraged
Ollie to run and play again as Ollie had become quite
depressed after the loss of my other dog.
Jaz has a few breeds in her. She is mad on balls like
a Border Collie, runs like the wind, has been known
to round up cattle with a natural instinct like a Kelpie,
swims like a Retriever and sniffs the ground like a
Bloodhound. I decided to get her DNA tested and the
results show that she has Secondary Siberian Husky,
which means one or 2 of her Grand-parents were Huskies.
I
decided to bring her to Dog Obedience because she has
boundless excesses of energy and needed some direction
and obedience training .She hasn’t been an easy
dog to train and we have a long way to go, but it was
the best thing I ever did. We progressed through the
classes fairly quickly until class 3, then finally arrived
at class four last year.
We have been coming to Dog Obedience for 3 years now
and have met lots of great trainers, dogs and friends.
We have just started learning Agility. It will take
a while for me to get the foot work right, or left,
whichever the case may be. The main thing is that Jaz
has fun while being obedient.
The Instructors do a great job out there on Sundays,
rain, hail or shine. Thank you for your dedication.
