CLASS ONE EXERCISES

  • HEEL on a loose lead (figure 8 and weaving)
  • LEAD Held in both hands
  • SIT (from heel position, hands on)
  • STAND (from heel position, hands on)
  • DROP (from heel position, hands on)
  • TURNS (left & right turns, about turns and U-turns)
  • SIT STAY (end of dogs nose)
  • REVERSE
  • RETRIEVE toy
  • SIT FOR EXAM (hands on)
  • STAND FOR EXAM (hands on)
  • CHANGE OF POSITION

STANDARD REQUIRED FOR PASS TO CLASS TWO

  • Hander must show ability to work on a loose lead to advance
  • Handler must demonstrate a basic knowledge of class one excercises
  • Sitting with assistance – one voice command only
  • Stand with assistance – one voice command only
  • Right about turn and right turns under control, dog reasonably close, encouraging dog around
  • Reverse – responding to the ‘COME’ command and under control. Dog must come back willingly and sit in front of handler step back to heel position
  • Sit stay – approx 5 seconds
  • Sit for exam

Food/training aid may be used during class pass up.

A ribbon is given to each dog handler team that passes up to next class.
